How Type Up handles your information

Your occupational assessor uses Type Up to help write your ACC Initial Occupational Assessment report. This notice explains what happens to your information.

What we hold. Information you and your assessor provide for the assessment: your name, ACC claim or case number, work history, education and training, your CV, and health and injury details that affect your work. If you agree to your interview being recorded, we also hold the recording and its transcript.

Why. Only to prepare your assessment report. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. To improve Type Up, we may use copies of reports that have had your name and all identifying details removed, and only with your assessor's practice's permission.

Who can see it. Your assessor and their practice. Type Up staff can't see your case.

Where it's kept. On secure servers in Sydney, Australia, with a nightly backup copy also kept in Sydney. The PDF of your report is made on our Sydney server and isn't kept there.

AI assistance. AI is off unless your assessor's practice turns it on. If it's on, the relevant text is sent to Claude via Amazon Web Services in Australia (Sydney or Melbourne) to suggest wording. Your name and case number are replaced with placeholders first. The AI provider doesn't use your information to train its models. Your assessor checks and approves everything in the report.

Recording. Your assessor will tell you before any recording starts. You can say no, and the assessment can still go ahead. If you agree, the recording is turned into a written transcript by Amazon Transcribe in Sydney, Australia. Temporary copies there are deleted when the transcript is made.

How long we keep it. We keep your information for 12 months after your assessor last finishes your report, then delete it. Your assessor's practice can delete it sooner. Backup copies are removed within 8 days after that.

Your rights. You can ask to see or correct your information. Ask your assessor, or email privacy@typeup.io. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
